American Dinosaur is a 4 piece stoner rock group out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rock is a label that seems to be thrown around rather loosely these days, but they are truly a Rock and Roll band. The kind of Rock and Roll that you have been searching for since the 70s. Yes, that well written, soul grabbing, face melting Rock and Roll with a new space age twist.
Established in August of 2013, American Dinosaur the band spent their first year together learning and recording their debut self titled album 'American Dinosaur' which was released in April of 2015 both digitally and physically. After the band won the 2nd Annual PHL Live Center Stage, the band experienced great success, first playing a Live @ 5 on Radio 104.5 Philadelphia’s iHeartradio Alternative powerhouse.
In February of 2016, the band began recording their follow up EP entitled One For the Birds at MilkBoy Studios in Philadelphia with Tommy Joyner. The EP was released to great acclaim, with the debut single in rotation on 88.5 WXPN in Philadelphia. The song “Sweepstakes” has received heavy airplay from WXPN, sparking support from Helen Leicht’s Philly Local program, and enthusiasm from Operations Manager and World Cafe talent producer Dan Reed who says,
“Some real rock & roll just when the format desperately needs it… our core audience grew up with the AMERICAN DINOSAUR sound, and yours did too…”
Since WXPN has embraced the record, the band continues to receive support from WRFF 104.5 FM, and recently the record was the WMMR Local Record of the Month, as featured on Jaxon’s afternoon drive program.
American Dinosaur has played with nationally touring acts such asNathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, X-Ambassadors, The Unlikely Candidates, The Weeks and The Seratones; and in the best venues such as the TLA, The Trocadero, MilkBoy on Chestnut, Bourbon and Branch, as well as many venues out of state in NYC, NJ, DE, and Baltimore/DC.
These guys are an act to watch, with their space age take on that classic rock sound, incorporating sweet, sweet harmonies with killer riffs and intricate guitar solos. You can follow them on Facebook and Instagram @AmericanDinosaur and on Twitter @AmericanDinos
